03 R6 Reg/Rec

Post by DaveLiverpool »

Just looking round for these on fleabay and the cheapest I can see them for is around £80+p&p.. Surely we can get something similar for cheaper and are they worth the upgrade? (BTW my reg/rec gave up on me on Monday 40mls from home and I had no breakdown cover (silly me)).

Thanks,

Dave.

You might consider a SH 693-12, have one fitted to my NC30. Price appears quite reasonable from amazon.co.uk.

As a precaution use heat transfer compound when fitting and make sure mounting surfaces are flat so that heat passes to the frame as efficiently as possible.

Was it just a bolt-on? Did you buy new or used?

Thanks for the info, probably going to put my bike away for the winter and just get it ready for next summer. Ie: major jobs need doing ASAP! Haha.

No that's brand new. Second hand there less than £50 but I would want piece of mind if I'm paying that much. Will check out the yam suppliers after what you said. I just want something to last a long time while I sort various other bits of the bike out.

I've stopped buying second hand reg/recs now unless they come with at least a proper three months warranty. Considering what I pay trade, it's not really worth looking at second hand any more.

You can use nearly any 3 phase reg/rec off lots of different bikes , most have three wires from the genny either yellow or white, ign live, charge wire and a earth or very simular config, just wire it up accordingly and it will work a treat.
