not been on here for ages due to problems with the garage my mate and i rented anyway enough of that now sorted with a lock up each
bikes painted except nosecone searched everywhere and still no luck i have repaired one side took a mould from the screen other side isn't possible as screens broken will add some pics later some how i overcame missing lugs on my fairing etc

now for the problems i broke filter on the petrol cock can't get a replacement will it be ok without?

bike wasn't reving past 8k had it running without tank on thumb over vaccum hose and i blew down the petrol pipe and it reved right out new rubbers have been fitted carbs checked (jets and emulsion tubes correct) and cleaned does the vacumm pipe go onto the pipe on tank horizontal same as petrol pipe? will no filter on pertol cock be ok?

vacuum goes onto the outer most spigot - the middle is a drain, the big one is fuel.

your risk on a fuel filter but as the tank is well over 20ys old I bet there is some shit in there dying to clog up your carbs!

You should be able to get a replacement filter, try searching for NC21 parts instead of NC24. I believe the tap assembly etc, is the same as the VF500 and early VFR750 too but don't quote me on that. Other option is a small inline filter.

The lack of rev over 8k. Are the carbs set up correctly? Is the mixture correct and have you got a clean air filter? Are there any air leaks?

hi guys thanks for the quick replys haven't started bike with tank on was putting petrol in with a small siringe with a hose on the end well it did work lol so had my thumb over vaccum hose and had it running when i blew on the petrol hose with my lips and reved it it was fine and reved cleanly to the red line

questions now are where do you get a small inline filter as it must be a large bore one most are 6 or 8 mm when carbs were off i thourghly cleaned them checked all jets were clear and set mixture screws too also new rubbers which were a bitch to put on lol

bike still needs a battery so will order one asap

i bought a vfr 750 they other day its been street fightered canny argue with paying £100 for it also has a private plate which is worth atleast £200 so need to get that sorted and sold asap so busy bi=usy per usual lol

so looks like i will get the tank on tomorrow with fresh fuel and test for air leeks am sure there isn't any bit will double check will let you know how i got on with it

really just the nosecone to either repair or replace only screens i saw on ebay were from hong kong guy got bad feedback and don't want to get ripped off again been there done that

sorry for the delay loads of things happening and recovering from a fractured shoulder

now onto the bike everythings almost done apart from painting fairings as bought another set

bike was running sweet until few months ago bike won't turn over with starter button now im getting 11.5v at the solenoid when pressing starer button everything else is working ignition lights etc if i bridge solenoid connections with an old screwdriver then bike starts

Hmm sounds like a voltage drop to your starter.

Could be corroded wireing or bad connection.

Try to bypass the old wire with a new thicker wire and see if that solves your problem.

This is a common occrance on old cars. Often the fix is just to run a relay from the batery to the starter motor and using the old start wire as the kick switch for the relay.
But preferably on a bike you would just run a new wire.

Wind is blowing something fierce here. Currently working on a 3500 plot housing development. Quadbike + 56km/h + sand and storm gale = Sandpit eyes!

Wanted to strip my forks tonight but the GTi's water leak problem has become significantly problematic. Thougt it was a blown topgasket. Fortunately it was only the inlet water manifold at the side of the head that has a split crack in it. Will probably cost me in excess of R800. Thats about £51

Right. Fixed the GTi tonight. Turns out everything is fine once more. Truely a blessing.
So come tomorrow, its time to do them forks...
Thinking ofnhaving the springs re-tentioned.
