Rear wheel not going back in
I know I'm doing something daft, but I can't seem to fit all the bits from the rear wheel back into where (I think) they should go.
On the right, the spacer (lined in red) sticks out a fair bit, but does seem to be in as far as it will go:

The yellow lines mark the disc mount, which I've swung round in the pic to get it out of the way.
On the left, that doesn't leave enough space for the spacer (available space in red, section which needs to fit in it is marked in yellow):

In the pic, the spacer is rotated by 180 degress - flange should go the left and rest against the swingarm - I can't describe why I've taken the picture like that
Neither side seems to have any places where one of the bits should slot in, but I suspect maybe the spacer on the right should stick out a little less than it is doing.
Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong?

it's a ball ache on your own
it will go put spindle in from exhaust side just enough to go into caliper housing then put a dab of grease on top both wheel bearings and fit the spacers hook the chain over sprocket lift the wheel straight gently tapping spindle thru once spindle thru wheel you can juggle position until you can tap it thru spacer then swing arm and adjuster hope this helps a spare pare of hands is easier you may find you have to balance wheel on your foot or something...but if you dont lift it straight it wont go.

That large spacer in your left hand is the wrong way round (perhaps you knew this) the large flat part goes up against the swinging arm, the smaller end of the spacer actually goes into the seal in the axle

Cheers bikerbiffo. Tried keeping it straight, can't quite get it in yet. I may need to grab my brothers assistance.
Superjack, I know it's the wrong way round (not sure what I was thinking when I took the picture). How far should the laft hand spacer sit inside the wheel? My bearings are flush, and don't seem to want to move inwards, but I suspect Ive moved something, and that left hand side is my prime candidate.

It's a pretty simple assembly, if it looks right it almost certainly is. The spacers are different and you have them on the correct sides.
The assembly is pretty heavy though, so it is difficult to fit. If you're a lightweight you may need help, but I (back when I was <10 stone as a nipper) just used to put some dirty jeans on, sit on the floor with the wheel on my shoes, the spacers already inserted, and slide the spindle in. This way you can roll in to line it up then just lift the wheel into positing directly vertical.
If your spacers keep falling out then you might need new dust seals, when they're fresh they're tighter and will help keep the spacers in line.
Wait til you're doing this on 6" wide rims with 190 tyres, on a wobbly paddock stand cos centre stands aren't sporty. Though you'll probably be a bit heavier yourself by that time!

on the zx9r it's a pain rear hugger to take off wheel weighs a ton
yep sat on floor mucky jeans lots of swearing but will go
when you put wheel back in then you realise you not fitted chain adjuster 1st...
