NC30 dodgy noise !
Hi , can any of you guys shed some light on my problem. I have an 89 nc30 an have developed a random knocking / rustling noise. It only occurs whilst riding mildly an slow acceleration , it rides ok with no lack of power an does not seem to be causing any problems but is now annoying the hell out of me . someone suggested front whel bearings ........ are they telling porkies as the handling is not effected . HEELLLPPPPP, cheers.

Re: NC30 dodgy noise !
any idea of what end its coming from?????
when you say it happens at slow speed this could be because you can hear it then so unfortunately it could be happening all the time.
what about the chain slapping against the swingarm.....is the tension correct?

Mine was making a similar sound the other day
and then I found a leaf had wedged itself into one of the vents on my lid! :D lol
I'd check the air box/ filter, front mudguard brackets, possibly wheel bearings. Random noises make it harder to pin point.

I wish it was a leaf in my helmet :D . It seems to be coming from the front ..... i think, but like you said as its random its a bit of a pig to pinpoint but the chain appears to be ok . Thanks for the help guys i will give it a good going over an try to narrow the problem down :)

Re: NC30 dodgy noise !
Still could be the wheel bearings being rough.
Other things at the front, brake discs / pads binding / discs warped.
Something loose / catching on wheel.

Re: NC30 dodgy noise !
you need to get the front of the bike jacked up and spin the front wheel by hand and then you should be able to feel if the bearings are ok or find the noise if its in the front end.
Probably good idea to do this to the back as well

Re: NC30 dodgy noise !
My bracket that attaches the manifold to the rear half had come loose.

Re: NC30 dodgy noise !
if you double check all the serious parts, that if they were at fault put you at danger and they seem fine, then i wouldnt worry to much about it. :D
