hello all wifes new bike gsxr400 id help please

id help please just brought my wife a little gsxr 400 after reading other posts regarding sp non sp versions,
it has the usual running problems which hopefully be sorted asap

the bike has TPS, screw on the top of the forks, single plug cdi, frame no 103059, 1990 j plate, does she have an sp mmmmmm :grin: :grin: cheers guys

Hi mate welcome to the forum, it sounds like an SP to me if its got adjustable damping on the forks etc but you can see all specs here-

those forks will be no good for your mrs mate, ill buy them for 20 quid .

Yes, the items you described are on the SP model. The fairing lower should also have dzus fasteners and rear shock will have remote reservoir.

spot on looks like it is, just put the gsxr600 rear shock in the original looked sad :grin: well shes going to try the bike once its running if she dont get on with it it will be for sale after all my hard work lol

did you have to grind awau some of the linkage to get it to fit?

yeah just a small piece quick easy job and well worth doing to be honest, the old one comes out easy you have to put the new shock in from the top with the battery out :P :P only payed £30 for a low milage shock so a very cheap and easy mod DO IT DO IT :mrgreen:

It is a worthwhile job to do once you sort the clearance issue out with the grinder, i had the swingarm off so wasnt too difficult, much improved handling at the rear.highly recommended.
