RVF CDI Pinout

Post by Fry »

Hi guys,

I've got an HRC CDI here for an RVF400, but no wiring loom for it. I just want to do a bench-test to check it's all working before I track down the plug.

Does anyone have a pinout scheme for it?

The RVF ignition box plugs into the standard loom?

The NC30 required the HRC kit loom to use.

The RVF HRC cdi does indeed work with the stock loom, the side stand down/in gear cut out switch stops working but that is all.
I couldn't wait for success, so I went ahead without it.

My bad. Should have been clearer. The bike i've got here is a VFR400, so it has the two plugs coming off the wiring loom, not the RVF connector.

The wiring diagrams I have show the colour scheme, but not the pin locations. I just want to bench test it before I shell out for an RVF loom.

The easiest way to test it is to try it on another rvf.

Are you putting it on a vfr? If so you need the loom, rvf iginition pick up and an rvf tacho also.

Where are you located?

In Australia. Right in the middle of nowhere.

I've got the pickup and RVF wheel, and am using an Ecliptech electronic tacho.

I'm going to run it in parallel with a Megasquirt injection system I'm building.

I just didn't fancy buying a complete loom fro one connector, only to find out it was toast.

I seem to remember a post where somebody switched back to using the stock ignition over the HRC ignition as it was better, perhaps it was Cammo?

Porndog had a thread with some back to back results

If I was going to whole hog with injection (have you looked at the threads by Mruehl, Lasse and Mike Norman) then I'd use ignitech to give some adjustability

Thanks guys. I'll check out those threads and the ignitech, I'm just doing this one on a budget.

Even if I don't use the CDI, I'd like to test it and see if it's still good before I sell it on.

Got a guy from another forum checking out his spare loom for me when he gets a chance. I'll post the scheme on here in case it can help anyone else.
