Which oil for nc30

Post by Haydn »

What oil is best for the NC30 track only. It's been a race bike for years but I'm not sure what oil it's been ran on previously. I'll more than likely be changing the oil regularly so it seems expensive to be putting fully synthetic every time but I'd like to hear your opinions.

Thanks

10w/40 semi synth is what the racers use i beleve, changed after every race/TD. Using fully synth makes the clutch prone to slipping AFAIK.

Seems pretty excessive! I change mine every 2-3 meetings and haven't noticed any slip on Motul fully-synth.

Ok so it looks like fully synthetic is fine for a vfr 400 race bike as long as its compatable with wet clutch. So is it worth double the price if being changed regularly?

Not had a problem with full synth bike oil before.

I have Honda Ultra S9 in the bike at the moment (fully synth) as it was on sale.

I don't think it's worth the extra money as the bike doesn't require it. Some oils might give youa longer service life but for the money regular semi-synth is fine.

I use Motul oil because it is what my bike shop stocks and I get a good deal!

I'm not sure on a couple of those but:

5000- Semi Synth.
7100 - Full Synth.
300v - Full Synth. The dogs danglies but $$. Interestingly, I had a conversation with Mike N and this is what he highly recommended for my tuned race motor. He said it is great stuff but expensive.

Actually, I have an oil question for the masses. When running an engine in, for the initial run in, would you recommend using mineral oil or semi-synth? I seem to remember, for the initial break-in it was recommended to run mineral and then change it out fairly soon?
