Magteks , educate me.

Since fitting some standard wheels to the oki im very tempted with replacing my dymags dor some magteks.

Am i correct in thinking there are 2 types ? Road based from the two stroke mc 28 and then a lighter race version?

Are they the same size a standard nc wheels and a straight fit?

Is there much differance in weight over standard?

More importantly what money do they go for as there seem to be none forsale ?

yes , do you know much about magteks Kris?

not a lot im afraid. i believe your right that there are two specs ie road and race, not much magnesium in the road ones and just as heavy as normal alloys.

I think the nsr fronts are 3" so ideally it would wear a 110/70/17 but afaik the rear is the same 4.5" so a 150/60/17 is spot on.

Yep theres 2 types, the ones on the road going NSR's have very little mag content and are only slightly lighter than alloys, if you intend on using them on the road then these are the ones id go for simply because honda spec'd them to be used on the road and they will last and take the occasional knock from pot holes.
The other type are race mags and have a much higher mag content and therefore much lighter, i wouldnt go using these on the road there "not for road use" for a reason.

You can fit a 120 tyre to a 3" rim im told by many people but a 60 profile will work better. Best option would be to get RC30 mags with a 3.5" front and 5.5" rear but there rare and expensive.

What you doing with the dymags? selling?

Tbh I was just thinking about it but it would probably make more sense to just use my standard 35 wheels and get the dymags sorted and store them away , the oki is probably going to only do a 1000 or so miles this year .

If I was to go for some fancy rc30 mag's ten I'd have to sell the dymags .

A lot of people in the know would say after 5 years throw them away but thats proper race mag wheels, the road going mags dont have as much mag content so will last. I asked the guy that use to be dymags main man for refrebing wheels how long should you use them for and he said he's been doing wheels from the 70's and there fine.
