Nc23 knocking engine?
Hey all. Had the nc23 back on the road for about 2 weeks but over the last few days this has begun Happening

I really have no idea what it could be. It's rides fine. I only started to notice it when my earphones fell out. The odd thing is it really does start to go at 3k or so revs. It's not just being drowned out. It's 100 percent gone by 4. I've not played with the engine at all. Apart from a oil and filter change. I used 10w40 but it was castrol semi synth which I've been told could be too thin and not allowing it to create enough pressure at low revs. It doesn't seem as snappy either in first and second, as if the clutch it's slipping very slightly and a tiny oil residue is on the bottom of the pick up cover. I've ordered a genuine Honda filter and will change to mineral oil to see if it makes a diff but surely running modern oil couldn't be the culprit for all this!? Anyone had anything similar or know anything? All suggestions welcome.

Re: Nc23 knocking engine?
Wouldn't it then knock through out the rev range?

Re: Nc23 knocking engine?
Higher oil pressure with more revs and so it knocks a lot less..
I dunno..but that is not nice. You have eliminated loose bolts, clutch, flywheel, exhausts etc?

Sounds like it knocks all the way through the rev range, just gets harder to hear as the noise becomes continuous. Hopefully it's something stupid but it sounds bad from that clip

Could be a snapped clutch basket arm ? Can you tell where on the bike the noise originates?

Re: Nc23 knocking engine?
Been over with a long screwdriver to my lug hole but no joy locating it. It just seems wierd that everything works fine. I'm gonna wip the clutch and pick up covers off tomorrow evening. I'm wondering if the oil pump could be past it? I've got another one on my spares bike. I don't know if it's a good one but I wonder if it might be worth swapping it over anyway to see what happens.

wozza... if i ever meet you i may have to kiss you. Robbed the one of my spares bike and its sorted. Mine had at least 1.5mm of play in it. Cant believe something so small could make that racket. As soon as i heard your video i knew my sound was the same. So stoked its fixed.
