Dam it. Good start. I just typed the history so far of my rescued bike and I lost the god dam lot grrrr.
Just a little to introduce myself. I'm Andy from near walsall (unfortunately) and 39. I'm a Rottweiler owner and breed trainer and bike mad.
I'll try again. I spotted an old nc21 for sale that had been standing for 8 years in 8 long painful winters so we snapped her up and decided to give her a 2nd crack at life considering its only done 17000 miles (not km).
Under those fairings were, well lets say was a right bag of you know what. Muck, rats, spiders, rust, mamouth's you name it and it was there living on it. Every consumable was totally consumed.
So far new rear caliper seals, pistons, pads (disk just ok for now). Same to do on front. Bleed nipple snapped inside so that to rescue yet. New collector box. The usual oil, filter ect. I was amazed the oil was water and condensation free. The oil filter was that rotten I pushed a hole through it with my thumb! New shock. New battery. Seat fairings to be painted. Was painted with wrong type so it reacted with the paint underneath. All front fairings are good.
Being a Tool Maker for 24 years I find no job impossible. I like a challenge. I also have the back up of a very clever motorcycle engineer called my dad.
Ok so you must be thinking why not buy a NC30 instead. Well so far apart from the fact I couldn't walk away and let this bike die I have still not spent more than £600 including parts, tools, van hire and £80 worth of diesel to fetch her.
I'll keep you updated as I go along.
When I work out how to attach pics I will post some of the state she was in as I found her. Post a few as I go along and then the finished bike with a big smile.
Thats all for now.
