3TJ carb help needed, Spring measurements
I need a favor chaps, I am rebuilding my FZR 400 3TJ SP carbs and need to know how long the springs are in the tops in the sliders.
I have standard ones & a set of race kit ones that I have mixed up
One set are about 45mm longer than the others. Can any of you measure your standard springs if you have a set laying around or the carbs off the bike?
Also for the guys with a full race tune what size main jets & main air jets are you using? ( I have a BDK air box, bell mouths, race tuned head etc).
I have 110 main jets & 70 air jets that seem a bit small to me, although to bike is very quick I want to see if I can get some more power out of it.
Many thanks.
Rob

Is it coverred in the set up manual on the front page of the site ??? it might give you the length of the standard.

I have the BDK data & a copy of the factory specs but it doesn't tell me the spring length.

Can anyone help? Kayla, Evil, are you out there?
The good news is that the bike now starts idle's and rev's very well after a carb clean as I had a load of that pet seal shit disolve into my carbs
DON'T use it!
The tank is basicaly a write off though as I can't get all of that crap out of it now.
I bought a 10 litre ultrasonic cleaner that is brilliant at getting all sorts of things cleaned up, the crap that came out of the carbs was unbelievable!.

i use B&Q "metal cleaner & restorer"dobbslc wrote:The tank is basicaly a write off though as I can't get all of that crap out of it now.Rob
it's a mild acid, mix it 2-1 with hot water then shake well and leave for 16-24 hrs shaking every now and again, (you don't need to fill the tank about 2ltrs of cleaner to 4 ltrs hot water should do the trick if shaken regularly as it's normal the bottom of the tank that get's rusty and dirty)
works brilliantly on rusty, dirty tanks,
never tried it on tank sealer though,
you'll have to suck it and see but at about £7 for 5L it's cheaper than a new tank, you could use more acid/water mix and put a load of nuts in the tank to agitate as you shake

but whatever you do remove the fuel sender and fuel tap first and block the holes with some rubber gaskets and thin steel plate, using the original fixings, cos they wont appreciate the bath or the nuts

Thanks but that stuff won't shift epoxy resin, I've got some rust killer from Caswell that will sort my spare tank's rust out.
