Jap NC30 Low Beam relay confusion
Hi Everyone. I'm looking to fit a low beam relay to my nc30, as per this article...
http://www.vsource.org/VFR-RVF_files/NC ... mRelay.htm
It calls for a relay with 4 labeled connections (30 (input), 85 (ground), 86 (to switchgear), 87 (headlights)).
However, I have this relay with 5 connections....
http://www.relay-rayex.com/downloadfiles/LQ_SERIES.pdf
Useless with electrics so can anyone tell me what the equivalent connections are on the relay I have?
Thanks for any help, Rob.

Re: Jap NC30 Low Beam relay confusion
Thats a PCB mount relay, it's designed to be soldered to a circuit board (which is why it has pins and not spade connectors)
It's not ideal but you can use it if you want to.

This kind of relay might be easier to work with as you can use insulated spade connectors on your new wires to make it easy to connect

So looking at the wiring diagram on the second page
http://www.relay-rayex.com/downloadfiles/LQ_SERIES.pdf
the top RH connection should be input (30), the bottom RH should be Ground (85), bottom LH switchgear (86), and centre LH should be headlights (87)? Am I right or no no no?

If you need a relay, PM me your address. I have hundreds in the workshop. I get loads of stuff from my neighbour (local bus company workshop manager). They get 12v light systems for the buses and convert them to 24v so I get all the 12v wiring packs

It'll be a pain in the ass to sort out. The ones I have are just plug and go. I'll send some crimp terminals as well if you PM your address

Re: Jap NC30 Low Beam relay confusion
It will work, 5 connection vs 4 doesnt' matter so much, the extra connector is only a pass-thru.spongy.bob wrote:Thats really kind of you. do you think the relay i've got wont be any good then?
It doesn't have spade tags on it though so you'll be needing to solder wires to it, which is a bit messy and hard to remove if the relay plays up etc.
A spaded relay will allow you to use spade-connectors to make installation better.

Re: Jap NC30 Low Beam relay confusion
85 to earth
86 to the switch
87 to the headlights
30 to the battery (via 15A fuse for twin headlights)
Do you still need a relay? I can get one posted out tomorrow.
