As per title, is the chain too close?? its got a 160 60 17 rear tyre and a 525 chain, im wanting to swap to a 520 anyway but have a trackday on sat that looks like its gonna be dry

my only other trackday was mega wet at oulton last month and clearance wasnt an issue with the wet tyre but that was an 18, im a bit worried now that i have put the 17" dry back in!!!!

Tried to contact RO for his spacer kit last week but not heard back, any thoughts

If its too close i will sort a 520 kit pronto.

Cheers Mark,

Thinking about ordering these from B&C they normally get here next day, and i am wanting them anyway at some point so if it rubs then i can swap them out.

These look right ones to everyone, if you use the bike specific search it just shows a 15 front and 40 rear. so i have taken the start of the coded from them sprokets and searched to get the sizes i want.

ah well ordered up and been assured it'll be here tomo, £84.00 for a full set seems alright to me and yes i know its a mx chain but i ran these for years on my 450cc mx bikes and have never had a problem so i cant see why i need a road one, and no im not asking the split link question, i have a soft link but i may just run it with the split link as im never convinced i have splayed the heads of the soft links enough!!

Your washer and spacer are on the wrong way round on your hub assy. The ones just behind the nut.

what wheel you using?? ive got a duke 748 wheel on my nc30 with a 4.5mm spacer fitted. you need to get your standard rim and new rim place both on a flat surface (without the tyres) measure from the sureface to your hub bottom work the difference out.
if your standard hub is 110 and the other is 115 youve got a 5mm difference make your self a spacer with holes at 12,3,6 and 9 for the four spigot points and then half moon cut outs around the edges for brake disc bolts slide it on. easy

Or you could just put a 150 tyre on instead of a 160. They're no more difficult to get nor any more expensive.
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

loose the o-rings. non o-ring 525 or 520 will sort that.

o-rings only hold grease for a bit longer - thay have no other advantage + they sap power

Yeah ordered an non oring 520 Mo from B&C yest afternoon so hoping that it'll be here today, they assured me it would when i ordered it, but i'll see. T be fair B&C jave always been pretty good for next day stuff when ive ordered MX chains and sprokets from them.

999Gomerz im not totally with you? im 99% sure that the rear wheel and hub is put on correctly with the spacers as they should be?

Its just a stock NC35 hub so shouldnt need any spacing around to make work! and yeah a 150 would work, but i aint got one so i'll have to make this 160 work for now, plus im wanting to use minitwin scrubs so they tend to come in 160 variety dont they?

and to answer your question yes its to close. remember that the tyre will flex when under load and also grow as it gets heat into it
