727 it runs!

Post by Thunderbike_steve »

Hi all.
I finally got the 727cc'd 3tj motor fired up today. For those who don't know it was my plan to race this 2 years ago but sadly with family circumstances I've had to delay a while.
It's basically an old long throw crank from the 3he fzr600 in 400 engine cases with a thundercat top end bored out 3mm. But believe me there's more that goes in to it than you think.

Anyway she fired up pretty easy after 2 days pissing around with the race loom I made to finally realize I hadn't shorted out the side stand. Sounds a lot more grunty than a thunderkitty motor. Hoping to have it on a dyno in the next couple of weeks and have it ready for my first race at Brands in mid April.

F*ck yeah - I remember this one - you had to get a spacer plate made for the base gasket.

It' runs !!!
That's cool - so tell us when your at Brown Snatch and I'll try and get there too.

Well done matey

Yes Boris I did indeed need the spacer gasket. I forget the size now but it cleared the extra length of the YZF rods on the fzr crank and reduced compression ratio to 12:1. I never doubted my maths in calculating it honest

I think Brands is the weekend of the 14th April.

Few other things about it, it has a 2006 zx6r front end with r6 calipers. SRAD 600 swinger (Thats because its only 10mm longer than the 3tj one) Carrozzeria race wheel, pfm iron brakes, bdk tail unit and fairings will be TZ250 gp. I'm hoping its gonna be better than last time I raced it.

Where did you plan on racing it? What class? :?:
