Front fork dilema....

Need some suggestion guys......forks are pitted on my sp.
Have made a few enquiries and the cheapest deal i can find is getting new fork tubes and a rebuild at a cost of £300 for the both of them....fair play, if i spend £300, i more or less get a new set of sp forks.

On the other hand i'm thinking, if i'm gonna spend £300, I may as well go the radial fork route, no?
If I do then, i'm pretty sure later model gsxr forks will go in but what about the speedo cable?What other issues will i have?
Has anyone done a radial fork conversion on thier bikes?
Any suggestions are welcome.
Of course the easiest route is, maybe to get direct gk76a fork replacement, which i have put a wanted thread up.
Someone has said they have them but since pm'ing him, i haven't heard from him :cry:

If your going to spend money on forks and are not concerned with originality my advice would be to change to a better set,dont bother with 76a fork`s(they are nothing to shout about in standard trim) unless you fit better cartridges. Go for the zx legs/calipers if you want radials or like i have and fit R1 front ends complete. Both sets of the afforementioned forks are far superior in standard trim to the gixxer stuff. The only thing i will say is go for 03 onward`s R1 legs as the early example`s have to much travel unless you put better cartridges in. The standard R1 brakes are monobloc`s and you will have to spend serious money to better them. Having said that any newer front end will be better than the stock equipment, the choice as they say is yours....

Speedo will be an issue unless you find a front end with a mechanical drive on it so the only choice is either a translogic dash or a speedo like i put on the other half`s(look at my posts)
All of this is only my opinion mate and its entirely up to you.

So 03' upward R1 front end will go straight in.
What about the zx....which model and would the sp wheels fit?

I have done the radial fork swap on my srad will R1 monoblocks.....did'nt change anything on that just the forks.
If I go with R1 forks, I need R1 wheels spindle, what about yokes etc.

If you go the R1 route to make it easy i would get it all but if you want work you can machine the original front wheel to accept the larger R1 bearings and then machine appropriate spacers. You will need the yolks as well mate,the R1 legs are fatter than the 76 stuff.
Got to be honest i dont know much about the zx stuff but one member has done the swop on here(you`ll have to search for it mate!)

Just to reiterate......The whole front end of an 03' upwards R1 will go straight in, right?
The only issue I will have is the Speedo?

Yes I am interested buddy but need to confirm what else i'd need to make it work.

Ya know, I think Stripes had zx forks whith gk76a wheels.....

How much are we talking? I take it they are straight and true with no pitting, right?

Forks are in fine condition, lower yoke and stem also. The stem is a push fit so can be swapped out if needed for your GSXR one.

You'd obviously need a wheel, mudguard, spindle, brakes, etc.

IIRC, the spindle diameter is about 15mm but I can check tomorrow.

I've got the forks on eBay for £80 plus courier but I'll let you have the forks and yoke/stem for £70 posted. I've also got a top yoke but it's been badly drilled on top where one of the clip on location bolts snapped, I'll chuck that in too.

What year forks are they buddy....we may have a deal. I think those forks will go directly in the 400's yokes, will confirm.

I also thought this site was quite slow but am pleasantly suprised....cheers!

They're from a 96 F2. 42mm diameter I think, will check in morning.
