Re: First trackday! anglesey international - 25th feb
Hi,
i was at oulton on this sat doing my first trackday, its not that daunting, i think it helped that although there was a lot of bikes and the day was sold out, that oulton is a long circuit and so there was space and it wasnt too congested.
I think Anglesey will be the same as again its a big track. so plenty of room, i went with no expectations at all , and really just went to try and have fun and told myself that if the bike ran well all day and i stayed on then that was a complete result and definately job done. i managed both these things apart from a real small niggly problem in the last session.
I found the pace in the novices was fine, i passed loads of people and was only passed maybe 8 or ten times all day, and i have zero road riding experience really, done about 500miles road riding over two years ago.
Just go and enjoy it and dont get too nervous about it, every single person on the trackday will have had to do exactly what you are doing and i found everyone i spoke to really accomodating to my complete lack of knowledge.
The only time i started to feel really nervous was sat in the queue waiting for noise testing, other than that i had a wicked day despite the weather and serious amounts of oil that were on the track.
Really tempted to book this too if im honest, but its 3hrs drive for me and as my dad hates road bikes and i borrow his van i dont wanna push my luck too far with 2 trackdays in obne week.
Might nick the GF's 4x4 and a trailer from somewhere. Its tempting at £59!!

Yeah was really cheap but apparently anglesey in the wet is not nice and the weather up there is unpredictable :).
Can you advise me on anything I need to take? How much fuel should I be taking??
Glad you enjoyed it it looked like everyone was having an awesome time was really jealous just getting dodgylooks from everyone in my retro leathers because the misses had pinched mine! Hope it goes that well for me haha

Re: First trackday! anglesey international - 25th feb
Ive been working down in Colwyn Bay this past year which is on the north coast of wales, and the weather has been good all year really, no major storms to talk of, but i think anglesey circuit is on the south coast of Anglesey and that gets the south easterly weather so it is a lot more changeable. I'm guessing by the price that its prob gonna be wet or cold or both.
Fuel is a hard one, I filled the bike up the night before so the bike was full come the first session, its one less thing to do/forget to do in the morning before the first session.
I took 15Ltrs additional to this, and have come home with nearly 10ltrs, However the bike is pretty empty so will take most of this to re fill it and No Limits lost a few sessions at Oulton due to oil etc so i only did 4 full sessions rather than id guess 6 to 7 sessions at a push. Had i done the extra sessions i think i'd have been somewhere close.
other than that i guess take your time and at no point try and ride as fast as you possible can, just ride at your comfortable pace i guess, and build up slowly from there.

Anglesey, in my opinion, is pretty bloody grippy wet or dry - don't worry about it.
A couple of small fuel cans will do you nicely..

I'll get some photos of me (captain slow) up soon then :) my misses wants a new camera too now! Going to see if I can buy the cd off the photographer.
Felt really comfortable everything started slipping into place after I asked one of the instructors to take me round, need to start working on my body positioning :). Definately addicted it is really good fun!
