Caliper paint colour?

Post by oldgreyandslow »

I'm having a refurb of my calipers, new HEL lines going in, seals etc however having removed the calipers I thought they could do with a lick of paint.

They seem to be a dull grey colour, bike is a 90, L NH196 model, albeit with K forks FFS, so what colour for the calipers?

Any idea of the correct colour? Or do I go down the Gold/bling route?

I'll split the calipers to paint them, however I don't have any shot blasting kit etc so would a decent degrease and rub down with wet and dry suffice?

The K model bikes came with gold calipers, all later models had the dark coloured calipers (pics below). I'm not sure what colour it is, like the engine and the forks it seems to be a browny-black type colour.

give them a rub down with some wet n dry i used 600 grade on mine , then a good degrease , my calipers are off a L model and i used a high temp paint in satin black to spray them and thought it was a good match ,

Hammerit smooth gold seems to be a favourite. That's what I've used on mine.
