carb seals would they cause running problems

stilk trying to get to the bottom of my splutter,now running the correct exhaust and was going to attempt getting the carbs out cleaned re jetted and find out what each pilot screw is set and discovered all 4 of these seals are split

would these cause any issues

in the carb jetting guide those seals look nothing like mine-mine are flush and the ones in the guide pics look like they have a neck on them

i would say bin them and get some new bellmouths as it looks like at some stage some one has cut them down to make them in to hrc stacks which is all good if you are running hrc carb set up and is a track bike , , but ur got a road bike so really they are pointless on the road and stock set up runs best on road imo , but i couldnt tell you where to get news ones maybe the ebay or DSS

Big time! That looks like a home brew HRC carb stack, but without the airflow restricted. The HRC stacks had a shroud that restricted the airflow, so if you don't do the same, then it'll run really lean. I tapped the hole and then used a stainless bolt with a 2mm hole drilled through the middle, Like this:



If you didn't do this setup, then I would check the pilots, mains, needles and emulsion tubes to see how much of the HRC setup the previous owner did.

As others have said, if you are just looking for a sweet running road bike, then get hold of some un-cut stacks, check all the jetting (there is a sticky to Cammo's guide at the top of this page) and it should run a hellava lot better!

Stick a post in the parts forum. Since Rick O has started selling replica HRC stacks, there are probably a raft of standard ones kicking about in peoples' garages!

Where did you look? They are discontiniued now. (16141-MR8-003) 20.50gbp each + VAT

Where is your running problem now (what revs / condition) bike on stand or being ridden?? While they look a bit hacked.. they might not be the problem..

its when i fully open the throttle under 7k and it splutters n farts untill it get to 7k then picks up-if i ease throttle on its ok

oh and when ridden,it seems to rev up on the stand fine but when riding it just want to play ball

Firstly you need to tell us what the rest of your induction and carb setup is, without that advice is useless. Id say if someones gone to the trouble of cutting the stacks down then the rest of the setup will be anything but stock.
