speedo drive
Why do I keep on destroying the plastic bobbin in the speedo drive?... What would cause that to damage everytime I ride a bit harder than usual? Like by the time I hit 3rd gear then the damn thing is busted...

Re: speedo drive
Dunno but it seems to be fairly common.
Someone was making alloy replacements on here (Gazzah??).

Re: speedo drive
hmmm... bugger... I repaired my 1st one with some metal inserts... that worked for a long time until the side that fits the nut/bolt head of the sprocket got a bit rounded... so i used the one out my brothers NC29 cause he wasn't using the bike... and today after using it for only a few days.... it decided to stop working
Now I need to replace his and mine...

Re: speedo drive
sounds like its your speedo gear. remove it off your sprocket cover, and check it for any sign of notchiness when you turn it, even a wee bit would be enough to round off your plastic insert bit.
this has just been my problem very recently

Re: speedo drive
Make sure the cable and the housing on the sprocket cover are lubricated, I`ll get a couple made up in aluminium meantime.

Re: speedo drive
I cleaned and lubed the speedo cable today as it seemed a bit 'sticky' and was probably the cause of the problem...
