cheaper by a long way to replace the engine.

the HW to buy is super pricy - rings were 16 quid each form my lcoal shop... I gave up on the idea.
valve seals are cheap..
if it is blowing/low compression - then it is one or the other isn't it? If rings, then maybe a clean up of them and poss some good 2nd had might do you on a freshly honed block.
