choke cable route

Post by reverend »

Hello
I'm hoping someone can describe (in simple terms) where the choke cable goes and what it connects to and does. At the moment mine (RRSP) goes from the choke lever, around the back of the carbs and attaches in its holder. Trouble is I can't see that it will do anything (bikes not running yet) as the only thing that moves when I press the choke lever is the cable. Should it be attached to anything else? When I got the bike the engine would start but the choke lever would have no effect. I can't seem to find a description on the online manuals.
Thank you
Dave

Ok this picture shows the carbs from the engine side. The choke cable is coming in top right and pulls the bar at the top of the carbs. The central cable is the throttle and the bottom cable is the idle adjustment.

Go into the main "3TJ Rest" album to see some other pictures.

Thankyou. Again.
I couldn't see any movement of the bar above the carbs when pressing the choke lever although there seemed to be too much play in the cable. If this rain ever stops i'll give it some lube. Cheers
