NC30 Fork Offset, What are other Triple Clamp options??

Post by 999Gomerz »

Hi everyone,

As the title suggests I want to reduce the fork offset on my NC30 and am wondering if another model has triples with less offset that will bolt straight up to the NC30?

Hope someone can help???

Cheers,

Two things come to mind as I have had the same idea myself.

Im not aware of such a bike that would however I have never thought down that path plus I think lockstops would be your next problem even if you could find something to fit.

1. Perhaps find a specialist engineering company to weld an insert onto the standard stem to adjust the offset.

2. AttackPerformance USA manufacture yokes to order with a choice of swappable inserts, if I can afford it I shall be going down this road with the RVF front end I have on my NC30 racebike.

I know the CBR's and CB's all have the same fork spacing (they use the same or compatible wheels), but a much smaller pivot. I wonder if you could make or have made some sort of reducer a little like a Ducati offset yoke adjuster, and use CBR bearings and yokes? If you are or know a really clever machinist you could change basically all angles and offsets using various cups. It'd be interesting trying to install them in the centre though.

At that point you would lose the steering lock if you're still using it, and might run into problems with stanchions hitting your frame.

edit: ignore me, it's only the top bearings that are so different, both bottom bearings are 55mm OD.

G-force (Mike Norman) had a batch of yokes made to fit 600rr forks to the nc30 which used altered offset, might be worth contacting him.

Thanks for all your replies guys, I was hoping to use the original forks, the insert idea seems to be the most favorable or contacting Mike Norman as there appears to not be another honda of similar period with less offset.
