NC24 Generator Size

Does any one know what the size of the generator is?

I cant get my one out and I have been offered one at a good price

it is outer dia 92mm, inner dia 35mm, thickness 18mm.

Sounds the same dimensions as the one on the Electrex site.

Why can't you get it out? It's easy enough to remove.

The NC24 was fitted with one of two sizes of generator depending on the year of the bike.

The earlier models had a smaller one.. the later ones were the same as the NC30 genny

The bolt to the fly wheel is stuck fast, I haven't had the time to really give it a go. It is a 1988 model so I assume it is the later one. To be sure I will give it a go to check it this weekend.

They have a lot of torque on them.

do you have a flywheel holder to hold the flywheel while you unscrew it? if not an airgun or impact driver should do it.

14mm IIRC.

You need a flywheel popper too, which is an M20 x 1.something, maybe 1.25? that you screw into the hole you remove the bolt from to pop it off

That's very handy info to know, I just assumed it just came off a spindle.
I don't have a flywheel holder, air gun or impact wrench, can't I just apply force to the nut on the other side in an opposite direction?
Is that a M20 bolt I need?
This is sounding a lot more complicated that I first thought...

Nut on the other side? There isn't one.

The generator bolt goes directly into the crankshaft.

It's easy to do you just need to right tools.

The flywheel nut comes out to reveal a larger hole you screw the popper into.

It's on a tapered shaft, it'll be stuck solid, you won't pull it off.

You need the popper bolt.. Rick O sells them for aroudn 2gbp

lol... thats a bolt too... there not connected.

You need to lock the flywheel, you can do this with a thick screwdriver throguh one of the small holes in the middle, this will stop the flywheel from turning, I use a philips no 2.

Then undo the bolt.

Then all you need to do is screw in the bolt to pop the flywheel off.. around 2gbp from rick o is all you need to spend

If you don't have the right tools it's a prick of a job to remove the flywheel.

You can make your own flywheel holder up out of scrap metal and a couple of allen head bolts.

The flywheel puller thread is M20 x 1.5.
