Black wire just hanging loose...

Located to the left of the reg/rec is a black box. Coming from this box is a black wire that is just hanging loose. I don't remember taking this off (recently removed the reg/rec) and the bike still starts with it just hanging there. I can't remember if it is the top or bottom wire.

The reg/rec that was on the bike was a 6 pin from a kawasaki. I am thinking maybe the previous owner had it plugged into that? I just put an R6 reg/rec on and noticed this wire hanging there doing nothing (with a spade connector as if it had been connected to the reg/rec but i didn't take notice of what i pulled off the old one).

Any idea what it is and where it should go?

thats the coil to the left of the reg/rec, sounds like its one of the wires to that, or an individual earth wire :-) not exactly sure though tbh

The bike is at my parents place so i won't see it again for a few days until the new battery turns up. Will take a photo then.
