Does anyone know if its ok to remove 0.1mm off 4 shims using a surface grinder?

not a good idea seeing as you can get them easy enough. They are hardened and so grinding this off is not cool.

What sizes you got and what do you need?

I need 5 2.16mm, nearly all of them needed doing.
Ive swapped all others round, ive got 2.22-2.35.

I wouldn't bother with the grinding either much easier to get new, or second hand ones the right size.

Shims are case hardened,if you grind them you brake through the hard surface,
They will then ware quickly along with the cams.

I recently checked my shims, engine cold, all inlets were in spec .12 - .18, but most of the exhausts had too large a gap (ie .30 instead of .21-.27, and a one had .33) Is this worth worrying about at this stage? I know having too small a gap on exhaust valves can lead to burnt valves, but as the gap is bigger im thinking only downside is a slightly noiser valvetrain.. is this the case?
