My 89' NC30 VFR400R-K
Thought i'd post up a thread.
Will add some photos when I charge the camera.
Bikes covered just over 30000km, all standard factory spec.
Had the bike about 2 months i'd imagine, don't keep that great a track of time.
Since owning it.
Replace all for carb rubbers, vaccum hose and increase the jets from 110's to 115/118.
New pads on the front [Daytona Gold's]
New Brake Fluid and calipers [Originals were manky red painted]
Replaced both fork seals and new fork oil.
Replaced engine oil and filter. [Honda G2 oil I think it was, and genuine filter]
Put a couple of anime decals on as the bodywork is a little scratched on the one side-panel as it was dropped over at some point, waiting for some mint panels to come up cheap.
Plan is to clean it up and get all the gunk off it but otherwise leave it standard.
Still to do.
Find mint panels to replace broken ones.
Clean up nice and shiny.
Replace brake lever as it's a little banana shaped after somebody dropped it (no doubt the same drop that caused the scuff on the lower panel.
Remove and clean up heat-shield. Going to paint the outside black and line the inside with some heat-tape... the bike gets toasty enough.
Panels that arnt upto 'mint' standard:
Both mid-section fronts and right lower. The two mid-sections are a different shade of grey to the rest of the bike.. noticeable if looking and the left hand side one has a small crack by the 'force-v4' logo (presumably from the crash' if you look at the picture below you'll just about see the scuffed 'H' of the HONDA logo. I've removed the H and put this decal there.. good enough till I find a new panel.

It's running a Yamamoto 1/2 system and end-can but i've actually brought a full OE Honda standard system today for the tidy price of 12gbp that seems to be in good condition.
Will decide which one I like better. Probably leave the standard system on so the Yamamoto system might be up forsale soon.

Hopefully take some pictures tomorrow of the bike as it is today (that is if I get chance to clean it first.. wheels look black!)

Why sell the Yamamoto ? Standard sounds pants, keep the standard stashed away somewhere for the future.

Too loud, prefer the standard, especially when riding around residential area in the night time.marcus57 wrote:Why sell the Yamamoto ? Standard sounds pants, keep the standard stashed away somewhere for the future.

Re: My 89' NC30 VFR400R-K
Standard system fitted and polished (courtesy of MM) all in time for Motegi in 2 weeks.
On the hunt for some ungraized panels and bit of a clean and polish is due but it's getting there.
Suffered a brake faliure on the way home! Front braided hose developed a leak so I had no front brakes!
60km ride home with only a crappy NC30 rear... not the best but managed it.
Replaced the lines with brand new ones.. which are slightly longer! Will take pictures weekend

Re: My 89' NC30 VFR400R-K
Well after sending it down the road and over a 5m drop into a rice-field the bike was pretty beat up.
Every panel is more graized and cracked, melted them all back together now.
My beautiful standard silencer is graized
(was too cheap!)
and the subframe is bent.
Started to straighten the subframe out after remounting all the panels and noticing the pillion seat doesn't fit properly and the number-plate veers off to the right... weight of standard system must have pushed the frame out (aparantly it's quite common).
The mirror stay is also fubard, need to get a good unbent one and have a few allow reps made, when I do this they will be forsale on here if anyones interested let me know so I can judge how many copies to have made.
Good points are the motor is still sweet, forks, yolkes, tank! and everything else suvived unharmed as far as I can see.
Now the panels are all on, tomorrow as it's gone dark now i'll finish straightening out the subframe and take it for a wee blast see how she's running.
Future plan now is to get all original panels, not fussed about what colours they are so long as there mint. Going to re-fit the Yamamoto system and end-can as i've polished it all up and it's minted.
Rub the replacement panels down and spray them up Honda Crystal White (Pearl RC30 white)
Then apply some decals.. nothing OTT but i've already got a fair-idea what i'm going to do... sketching it out now, should look quite good!
Will reveal more details when I eventually get a full set of original panels again but in the mean time it's rideable so jobs a good one.
Pics to follow

Re: My 89' NC30 VFR400R-K
Updates.
New subframe and some undamaged panels should arrive tomorrow, spent too much time trying to straighten out the rear subframe.
Panels are all off different bikes but undamaged and intact so will be giving it a custom but subtle paint job.
Brought a new steering stem cap and plug for the rear wheel (hardly any bikes seem to have these)
also brought a new gear-lever.
Was on a quick ride out last week and a car tried to turn right infront of me! clipped the bike and broke the brake footpeg off so need a new one of those too now!
list of todo keeps getting bigger but itll come together soon, will add pictures when i do some work on it.
motor still running sweet which is main thing, all old panels melted back together and will be used until i can amass a full set of undamaged panels and have them repainted.
all panels going to have a 2k base coat and laquer and the rest done with decals.
unsure what color yet.
either the silver seed color or the pearl white from the rc30, or maybe a mismatch of both.. will get the crayons out and come up with some designs.
