exhaust again

Post by The Novice »

Need a favour - Anyone know what size an exhaust silencer for a nc23 is please. ie length and diameter or circumference. If it makes any diff at all, its an rrj, stainless headers on it so it will accept a slip on, but i do have a slip on to 3 bolt adapter on the can i already have on the bike.
After a search for a new silencer (road legal and quiet(ish)) to fit my bike i got a quill s/s silencer, but the one I have seems way too big to fit with the standard exhaust hanger so its going back on ebay soon, - obviously i dont want to make the same mistake again.

If it helps, Quill silencers are usually 120mm diaeter, most race cans are 110mm diameter, and some cans like micron are 100mm diameter. No idea on the standard can, though.

If you are after quiet aftermarket cans, you won't beat the Quills. Their baffle design is top notch, yet very free-flowing in the higher range. Smaller cans are louder, that's the nature of the beast.

What are you looking for for the Quill, with adapter? Does it go over a 2" pipe?

This quill I have seems massive, its not specifically for the CBR, it was listed as for a tt600. Its a 3 stud fittment (9.5cm hole to hole centre) and Inlet diamiter is 3". Now i think all the t3 silencers are prob the same, but with different inlet caps - i thought i would just be able to get an adapter to fit my stainless exhaust - which is 2" i think, but its not turned out that simple.

Also when i put the can by the bike, as its a lot 'fatter' than the exhaust i have on, the exhaust hanger is in the way. I would take a pic but i am not at home

Try this site, you may be able to get an adapter to fit.

I have got me another one now, quill oval, this is much more like the size i want - however this one doesnt fit either - i am ready to give the bike a good kicking, (not really fair as its me getting it wrong.)

All i need is a 3 bolt adapter (77mm centres) to convert a bolt on can to a slip on - why doesnt anyone seem to sell them! (i think the quill was off a gsxr)

I will have to make up a new exhaust hanger too as the oem one seems to be too low. Maybe its the stainless pipes i have on which are the issue, the outlet seems to be pointing up too much or something.

The can i have on now has a 3 bolt adapter on it so someone somewhere sells them, but its 75mm centres and just out and there doesnt look enough metal on it to drill it out.

Anyone have any pointers on where to find the adapter i need, looked all over the place. I have even contacted quill but they havent come back to me yet.

Bit of googling and graham france does some adapters but i am not sure on the sizes. Mine on the bike now must have come from him but its not the right size for this quill, isnt the rvf adapter the same size as nc23 bolt on?
Assuming your using the adapter, i will pm him to ask where it was sourced from so i can check fitments.

I am getting close to sorting this out now!!! I never thought all these diff fitments would be such a pain in the ass.
