Electrics failing? NC30 Wont start :(

Hi guys

Other day my battery ran flat so i decided it was time to change it ( not sure how old the battery came with it was )

Bike ran fine for few days, coming back from work at night noticed my lights were dimming, and when i changed from high to low beam, or flashed, it affected my engine and caused it to jump/splutter.
Mile down the road it cut out, ignition didnt even click or attempt to turn the engine over.

I got a charger, the battery is definitely full ( was when i first connected )
After a 3 hour charge the bike starts and runs ( havent riden it around ) but when turned off, and second start up attempted, its a no go.

Anyone had this before or have any advice?

Quite urgent as have work tomorrow!

UPDATE:
Did not charge the battery since the attempted second start, installed again and tried to start hour later, clicked and attempted to start but of course didnt fire, just hope this adds the diagnostic!

you have classic failing reg rec issues.

check the charging circuit

have you got a steady 14v at the battery when the bike is running? hold the revs at around 5000 and put a volt meter across the battery....

Pardon, but how do i check the charging circuit?
What can i check to see if it is the reg rec?

just a multi metre across the battery whilst the engine is running should be around the 14v mark i think..

If you say that you charged the battery and it started the engine and then could not restart it shortly after, I would suspect that the battery has expired. For a quick check of the battery without a multimeter, first charge the battery, reconnect it to the bike and connect a 12v globe across the battery and try to start the engine. If the bulb dose not remain bright when you press the starter then the battery is stuffed. Batteries do get old and die. Without a good battery it can be difficult to assess the performance of the charging system.

Havent managed to run the bike since, even after charging the battery again.
Multimetre shows just under 12v on the battery ( 11.4 or something ), idk if thats normal or bad to be slightly under?

Magg: The battery i currently have installed is days old, and used for only up to 50 miles.

Less than 12 volts is flat. Fully charged should be at least 12.8 volts. Charge it up again, get the engine started and then check that voltage across battery remains above 13 volts under all conditions. If not then charging system has a fault. Check output of alternator and if ok then rect/reg is suspect.

You can kill a battery in 5 miles if your charging system is faulty.
