I think i have a problem with my carbs ....
Heres the history i have recently given them a total make over using Camo,s guide re-jetted with 118/120 jets (becuase i'm running an Art end can ) and drilled slides and now using 1mm shims on the needles , i reset all idle screw to 2 1/4 turns out as they were all over the place ( 1x3.5 , 1x1.75 and 2x2.75 turns out

) .
After doing the above i now find it boggy on pullaway unless i bring the revs up first and my idle is up and down . I assume from what i have read so far about my symtoms am i right in thinking i need to balance my carbs....
I have decided to buy the carbtune tool so if needed i can balance my carbs propely

do i need to buy a 90° screwdriver aswell ?
I have looked at the guide in the haynes manual not sure that it make sense yet though

just read again i think it makes sense , number 2 carb is basically the one that you set all the others by ...
If i am way off can someone guide me back
Dan

i would guess an angled screwdriver would make life a lot easier...
you are right in think you only balance three, not sure which one is the benchmark but if haynes is saying number 2 then i guess thats correct. there is a thread about carb balancing recently by royster that goes into where the connections go and the order in which they are done.

Thought carb balancing was mainly to do with smoother idle :S
P.S. I'm guessing this is a NC30?

Firstly make sure all 4 are firing, check each exhaust pipe the same distance from the head. They should all get hot together but please use common sense I accept no responsilbilitu for burnt hands!

Been there done that and have the blisters to prove it

try a water bottle and squirt some of that on it, should hiss and evaporate rapidly if the exhaust is nice and toasty, if it hangs around a bit you'll know its not as hot as the others. if one or more aren't as hot at idle, rev it at about 5k and see what happens then, that way you'll know if its the pilots causing the problems if they are all now as hot as each other.

Here's the latest my carbs are now balanced after loads of agro ( like trying to eat an egg with a shovel ) getting hand in that gap i will be buying the tool if it needs to be done again , do they wonder out of balance if so how often would/should you check them ????
my results were after fittng carbtune carbs 2 & 4 only needed a tweak

then i adjusted 1 to 3 this was a bit of a pain then time to balance them all together sort of thing and this is wot happened 3 came up but 1 dropped off so i 2 3 & 4 done

then had to re-adjust 1 to get this
it looks pretty good to me

@ amaechizzle
It was tight i could'nt get my hand in with the socket on at same time so ended up using some long nose pliers with 7mm 1/4" drive socket with adapter to hex in it and did it that way in the end , i must admit it does feel 100% better on takeoff and idle is now where it should be about 1300rpm
