bike will run with or without reg/rec

your fuse blew as the neg/pos on the yam re/rec is reversed compared to the NC one.

What black box?

Take that out completely and plug the speedo directly to the loom. That box sounds fucked.

Attached is bypass circuit from this forum that you can use to prove the speedo is the problem.

Aye, bypass this - it is an aftermarket bit and has proably failed.

The speedo as a tiny 2 wire connector that plugs into the loom in the big bundle you'll see if you have the nosecone off.
