exhaust question...

Post by ColinP »

hey..
had a small fueling issue and turned out to be the fuel tap so i did the fuel tap mod and all fine now
my exhaust is blowing slightly from the gaskets on the header pipes is it possible/enough room to move the rear section and change the gaskets without disturbing the fronts?? or is it a case of taking them all off??
cheers....

I'm assuming you have the standard exhaust system? An aftermarket system wouldn't be too much hassle since most of them are in several sections held together with springs or clamps, but if you have a standard system...the front headers have clamps directly under the engine. Those need to be loosened and the rear header bolts can be undone from its manifold. Remove the muffler from the bracket and the entire system, except for the front headers is removed. lastly you'll next to remove the rear manifold to get to the gaskets. I'm pretty sure that's the rough procedure for doing the job (although my memory is a little sketchy, I've had a Tyga system on for a while now!)

Check out the diagram on the link below, hope it helps:

i managed to change the two rear gaskets without talkng the exhaust off , i just undone the exhaust from the header pipes pushed them back 1" with a bar just enough to take out the old gaskets and fit new ones
