CBR400 (NC29) gear lever adjustment

Post by cosy » Mon Aug 22, 2011 1:40 pm

Asides from the spline on the gearbox and the adjuster rod, can the gear lever that pivots on the rear set be adjusted? Maybe it can be taken off and angled downward and refixed? I have found that the gear lever can only point so far down, before the gear lever arm connected to the gearbox spline touches the frame and cannot select first gear.

Thank you,

Cosy

The standard setup isn't really made to be adjusted (although it can be to a certain extent). The easiest way to get the lever where you want it is to make up your own shift rod.

You just need to buy some threaded rod and 2 rose joints. I cover the rod with aluminium tubing cut to the correct size, clamped by a couple of nuts for extra bracing.

This is where I get my rose joints: http://stores.ebay.co.uk/McGill-Motorsp ... 4340.l2563

Thank you, does anyone know the standard length rod, believe mine is circa 165mm.
