Help I need a better shock for my NC29 asap!

Post by Pusharder »

Hello I got a track day coming up in a few weeks and I desperately need a better shock for my 92 NC29. Its terrible  even with the spring maxed out. It's like sitting on a big rubber ball (they have them in my gym) Does anyone know if there's a better one from another bike I could use, like an R1, or a newer CBR? Something that won't cost me $1000, most I want to spend is around $500USD or 300GBP, if I can spend less, even better, come on ebay!

BTW I'm in the States where it's a pain to own these things. Maxton and Nitron both won't sell to North America because they're afraid of our legal system (I don't blame them :( ) Most mechanics won't touch it (except mine), and spare parts aren't around locally. I still love 400's. The only one's around here that aren't grey markets are the Yamaha FZR400's. I road one of those and it was great in those high revs. Very loud! Too bad it kept dying and it had some flat spots in the powerband. My NC29's engine runs a lot better and that one. Most FZR400's were raced hard. Mine has an aprilia RS250 front end on it with brembo brakes and they work great. Now I just need to get that back end up a bit.

Penske, non remote res is $500, remote res $750. Awesome shock, and they do a nc29 spec, nc30 as well ;)
being able to ride from point A to point B does not mean you have skills

Those look nice and they're domestic for me. A piggyback one is just fine at $500. It will be a $1500 improvement in my head. The NC30 gets a remote but at a later date. I'm calling them tomorrow :peace:
