Rad Fan
Anyone know where i can get hold of sparte rad fan
Think it is kaput
Did the haynes checks ; fuse ok, pulled off clip on side of fan and earthed this against frame, small spark, fan didn't start.
Would you say fan is dead?

Re: Rad Fan
Try turning the fan by hand. If it hasn't spun for a while they can stick which then blows the fuse.

Re: Rad Fan
Not yet, I'd pull the fan off then hook it to a 12v source (the battery). You'll need 2 wires. The two leads on the plug are kinda close together so I used speaker wires to hook it up. Just make sure the wires don't short.
I did the same test you did and had the same results. I thought the fan was dead so I pulled it off the radiator and tested it. It spun right up. So it could be a wiring/electrical problem which is more than what I want to deal with so I'm taking my bike (NC29) to a professional.

Re: Rad Fan
Not sure on the 29/30s but often radiators are rubber mounted to reduce vibration in that case the rad/fan needs to be earthed or the fan won't work. If the earth wire hasn't been reattached during maintenance or gas corroded, the fan won't work.

Re: Rad Fan
did you hook it up to the correct negative wire?
if i recall it the positice in the black connector block that hooks on the bottom rad and the negative that connects to you fan switch (the thing screwed into your rad)
