Strange starting problem

I went out for about a 1hour on my RVF,Stopped for around 10mins,Went to start my bike up and it wouldn't start on the button? But it bumped fine..Sometimes it starts on the button then it doesn't,Only started happening today,Any ideas?

When you say doesn't start on the button does the engine spin over?

Nope It just clicks like the battery is dead,But the battery has good charge

Check the solenoid connections.

If solendoid connections ok then soleniod internal contacts probably need cleaning. You might be able to disassemble the solenoid & clean the contacts, not tried it myself as have not had the problem yet.

Tried taping the starter motor solenoid while the button is pressed. It's an old school trick, to try and get the solenoid contacts to create a good contact.

I had this a for a while last year, turns out charge wasnt going back into the system. Turned out to be the wires going to the reg/rec.

i would be inclined to give the charging system the once over.. use the step by step guide in the documents section

The likelyhood of it reoccurring is directly proportional to the secludedness of your whereabouts at the time!
