RE:24Ltr Fuel Tank.

Post by fruitcake8685 »

Anyone got one for a FZR400RRSP with ram air?
Im doing the manx newcommers B race in august which is a three lap race. With a 24Ltr tank I think I could do the race without a pit. So could save me a whole load of time.
Or does anyone know anyone who makes them, I have tryed BDK but they never got back to me.
Cheers

Try asking uniquefzrfreak I think he had an alloy T'Cat cover made for his last project - the same guy could make a larger tank.
It would probably be better to have a second tank under the seat and into where the fuel pump and filter live that will keep the centre of mass low.

Scratch that, the fabricator next to my work won't touch fuel tanks. If you have a clean spare I'd be willing to have a go at it myself.

Rumour has it though that 24ltr and 2 large fuel filters full of fuel is what you need to make 3 laps on a big bhp Fzr.

But that is a rumour!!!

The tank needs to be a 3tj item, it must seal onto the ram-air wich uses the underside of the tank as an airbox and i might be wrong but i dont think a tank from a different model is allowed in the regs???

Had a 24ltr tank on my PI R6, what you need to do is cut off the top of the tank, calculate the depth of steel required to make up the aditional ltrs and re-weld with a step of the required height. Cover the welded joint with a thin layer of chem metal, smooth with filler and job done.

Where in the world are you?
