Can anyone say if the Cover set 16953 449 751 [16953 ME5 025] comes complete with the 2 diaphragms , spring and spacers, as it is not clear from the parts list drawing.

I would expect so, as the diaphragm wears more than the covers, but want to be sure before ordering.

Thanks,
Dave.

That was the drawing I was looking at, but I will speak to Rick as I have an odd problem on a friends nc30.

The fuel flow is a fast trickle with engine running and a new vacuum pipe connected, and then the engine eventually stops with empty carbs.
It runs Ok with a bottle fed supply.
I have disabled the fuel diaphragm and the flow is now full bore and the engine now runs well, but if left ticking over for a while, the revs slowly die and the engine stops as before, but now it starts and runs straight away.

Dave.

I'm pretty sure the fuel tap is only available as a complete unit (and fairly expensive).

Rock Oliver sells a tap rebuild kit, might help out in this situation.

Tank breather problem perhaps? Try opening the fuel tank when the engine is struggling, to see if there'a a vacuum in there.

Fuel is now flowing freely and engine runs well but just dies after ticking over for a while, but starts up straight away and picks up perfectly.

Sounds like a sticky float flooding a carb

Could be, but it restarts on all 4, and it will run OK on on 3.
A plug was fouled a while ago [flooding?] but it run well on 3, starting ticking over, and pick up.
The carbs have beed cleaned and checked since, including equal float bowl fuel capacity.

I don't have the bike in my workshop, but visit the owner and work ouside, so a bit more tricky to evaluate the problem.
I may get the bike to my place in the end.

The tap diaphragms looked OK, and fuel flowed but not full bore, so new diaphragms have been fitted.
The bike now runs perfectly.
