New bike. Track day prep help

Post by lloydspencer »

My rs250 wobt be ready for my track day at snetteton. I was going to buy a 400 and this sped my decision up as a decent one came up near to me. Te tyres are good, chain and sprocket are good as well. Just had a service. Just wondering what bits I should check before going up there. Also any spares I should buy to take with me to deal with worst case senario. Cheers guys
When your Aprilia RS250 is more reliable then your girlfriend then you know it's time for her to go.

I would be replacing the engine oil and filter, brake fluid, flush the radiator and fill with water only and check that everything is tight (or lockwired).

Check thoroughly over the electrical system (battery, generator, reg/rec and all wiring), this is the achilles heal of any honda of that period, it would be disappointing to have to end your day early because of a dodgy charging system (seen that! ).

Also worth replacing the fork oil perhaps depending on the bike's history, but maybe not necessary. Finally, set the suspension up for you as much as possible (front and rear sag, preload etc).

When you get to the track set the tyre pressures then go have some fun!

I don't take many spares with me to track days (to races I do!) it's difficult to cover every scenario and I like to travel light. The basic tools are always good to have though.
