I've just registered with the site as I'm now the proud owner of a FZR Hybrid!!

I have a couple of burning niggles that I was wondering if you could help me on?

The guy I purchased the bike off is an ex-racer and seemed pretty clued up. The brakes have
been upgraded to YZF750 6 pots but they make a hell of a rattle when moving. The guy said it is because there
aren't any shims fitted with the pads....all racers do this!! Well, I'm no expert but the sound of rattling pads worry me somewhat. Is this safe or should I get the shims fitted? If anything I just want to get rid of the noise!

Also, the bike still has the original clocks fitted. Now I know that 400's rev higher than 600's so I'm assuming that reving the engine up to the redline at 14k will be a fast route to using a pushbike again! I was wondering what is a safe redline for this engine? It's a 95 Foxeye model engine I am told.

Can we have a picture of the bike ??? We like pics, but it will also help sort out what bit's you have on the bike because the 750 brakes don't fit on standard 3TJ forks ... that's assuming it's a 3TJ model.

Anyway - I'd be more tempted to look for some later calipers, the Blue Spots from an R6 would be good, Yamaha also did Gold Spots which have lighter componants and coated pistons. I'm not sure if "they're all a bit like that" is convincing me.

Have a look for some 600 clocks, ones, your right 14k rpm will blow the engine and you'll also get an MPH speedo. Have a look under the seat for the CDI and see if it has 4JH on it which would be the Foxeye cdi.

I haven't heard of taking the anti rattle backing off pads and I'm not sure why it would be done, you'll probably need some new pads to be honest.

So are the calipers on a converter plate between the fork and the caliper ????

You do need to keep on top of keeping the 6 pots clean inside though. I had a pair on my TRX850 and they're good if you keep them clean. Enjoy the bike, they're brill (I've got a 4/6 too) and have fun (but be careful!)

ps- Chicken, I think the OP meant there are no anti-rattle springs on top of the pads, not the actual pad backing itself.

think the idea of taking the springs out is to improve air flow through the brakes if it's been on track.

I see ... well you might find a rough pair on e-bay but I'd still look at replacing the calipers with blue / gold spot calipers.
