Replacment gasket, socket set and possibly IIRC allen keys, and either drain your oil or lean the bike right over.

easy.

gasket- check came with alternator today.. honda part too.
IIRC allen keys:-- eh... i have standard one.. and star ones...
sockets of course...

will drain oil as dont fancy leaning bike.. may fall over!
i al also doing a cheaky.. will be re-using the old oil + top up as the bike will only get used for another week, then sat for two months which i can do oil/filter change then.

Shouldn't need to drain the oil to change the stator bud :peace:
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

as i didnt lean the bike over.. i did drain the oil.
piece of piss job getting this done.. the ONLY ball ache was cleaning 9yr old gasket off the sides.

+ i dont think i tightened the bolts up enuf (no torque wrench) as i had a slow oil leak when i got back after a short ride. have re-tightened them all again. see how it goes tomorrow.

oh and voltage is showing12/13 bike off. 15/16 at 5k Rpm & 13/14 at idle.... on a flatish battery so its still charging at idle at the mo.
will check again tomorrow.

If you can pick it up from Thetford Jollye's you can borrow my torque wrench if you want, got a 3/8'' or 1/2'' drive to pick from :)

15-16v is much too high - usually a sign that your reg/rec is stuffed because it can't shed the excess voltage.

its BRAND NEW Reg rec, the first thing i replaced at the start of all this.
Spoke to bike shop yesterday and they said readings were fine "normal" as the bike was charging a almost flat battery. as i didnt charge it up before i changed the alternator.

i will be checking the readings again as want to let things settle first.

+ i only have 4 days left to make the most of riding my bike! then i am off work for 5 weeks on medical leave, off bike for a min of two months!... so TBH.. if the RR fecks the battery.. battery is under warranty at the same bike shop who advised me readings were fine.

Well I hope it does work properly. The charge going into the battery shouldn't change, flat or not.

The alternator kicks out up to 18v, the regs job is to bring it back down closer to 13v. A sure sign your reg is fooked if it can't regulate the voltage to below about 14.5v....

There are other checks you can do to see if the reg is faulty, they're in the haynes manual.
