GSX400X Impulse

Watcha, my Suzuki GSX400X 1986 Impulse MAY need another engine. I have a rather expensive knocking sound coming from it, and until i can get someone to have a look at it i thought i would find out if it was possible to fit an engine from another Suzuki 400 into it just in case i am right.

The engine in there at the moment is a GK71E (twin carb job). I believe the engine from a GSXr400 gk71f is the same ? Any other 400's the same ?

Im not sure on the gk71f being a fit or not but if it is a fit then its the only one, are they from around the same year?

Watcha, yeah, they are from the same era. I had to get some engine cover gaskets for my Impulse, and ended up getting some for a GSXR400F and they were an exact fit.

I have found a engine with the same prefix number - K706 - Does this mean it is the same engine model ?

Looks like i might be ok. Cam chain Tensioner according to my mate at the bike shop :)
