Pissed Off... No Sub Air Filter

Post by phattfoniks »

Just installed my new air filter in my rvf only to discover that the last owner left the sub air filter out.
Lazy bastardo
Theres a fair bit of grime in the subair box. Is this likely to have damaged the engine?

Also does the air from the subairbox feed directly into the engine? or into the air filter than engine?

Lastly can I use a household sponge as a temp while I order a new sub air filter? or just leave it without for now?

Thanks for any advice on this

The sub air filter filters the air that goes to the carb slides. If dirt gets in, over a period of time it could potentially affect the way the carbs slides operate.

Any sort of filtering material will work fine, no need for a genuine part.

Jeez calm down man, nearly every bike in the world is missing the sub airfilter these days... no biggie. If the bike is running fine then it's not broken is it.
