Fitting a PUSH NC23 throttle cable
i purchased me a throttle cable on line and im really struggling to fit it.. i have fitted it around the carbs and i have fitted it around the throttle but i cant seem to get it to fit in the metal 3 shaped thing that screws to the carb.. its like the casing is too long as i cant get the bolt with the nuts on to sit in the loop thing on the 3 shaped metal peice...
is there a knack to it?
any help appreciated..

Im afraid its just a knack.. I generally wound the nut right down and hooked it in, wasnt too hard although its on an nc29 dont think it wil be that much different on your nc23.

Re: Fitting a PUSH NC23 throttle cable
i managed to get both hooked in saturday, but the metal peice wasnt screwed on and when i tried to align the holes it wouldnt sit flat as it was pulling the cables too much which made the throttle stick at any position..

The Haynes manual describes how to do it, have you read it?

Re: Fitting a PUSH NC23 throttle cable
it flicks back easily on mine.
it fits to the carbs from the front, i only say this as you said, fitted it round carbs.
Its a hell of a lot easier to fit with carbs off, but in situ, so you have some movement. It fits in the clip just under the open throttle cable, but do that last.
1. Fit it to the handlebars and feed it to the carb as required, fit it right next to the open throttle cable on the front of the frame
2. feed the actual inner cable thorugh the gap in the carbs at the bottom, attach the v end lug of the inner cable to the hole in the carb throttle assembly, ie just below the end of the open throttle one. Make sure the cable is in the circular part so it free and not snagged on nowt.
3 open up the nut assembly on the outer cable as required so the threaded part can fit in the clip (this is at the front of the carb, the bottom clip, ie when i say front i mean facing front of bike), then its a case of adjustment, you will see how it works and how to adjust once its on.
hope that makes some sense?

Re: Fitting a PUSH NC23 throttle cable
i can fit them to grips and carb and they retract fine, its just when i try to fit them into the clip i have problems.. its like the wire is not long enough in either of the cables for the nuts and bolts to fit into the clip... i tried fitting the clip upside down but then the bolts aint long enough..
next step is to grind down the base of the metal clip making it lower in height which would make it easier to fit the cables into it..
with it fitted as it is.. both bolts are below the clip instead of one on top and one below..

Re: Fitting a PUSH NC23 throttle cable
it would be v tight to fit if your carbs are fitted.
All i can suggest is unscrew your carbs lift them and then you will find there is plenty of free play to fit them. Failing that ?? check the cable is the right one.

Re: Fitting a PUSH NC23 throttle cable
Dan, get a Haynes manual mate, don't go grinding things. Haynes manual will avoid 99% of problems like this. You can find them online to download for free, but obviously don't do that as it's illegal...
