It indicates that you are travelling above 80km/h. Nothing more.

Stick some tape over it - mine gave me heart failure every time it came on in a red oil-light-stylee

Japanese models have a speed limit of 180kph the red light should come on when the limiter is active. If you have a limiter you can overcome it by fitting speedo converter (kph to mph on the cable) or cut the black/White and blue/orange cables and fit a 2k resistor between them on the harness side. But I will say I have not tested as mine still in project phase.

The nc24 is not restricted as neo said the light just shows when you are going 80km/h or faster

Honda shop by me said some privite imports were restricted. So are all NC 24 not restricted. And sorry if I have misinformed you.

Hey it's an honest mistake and there is a lot of mis-information on the internet.
While it is true a lot of the JDM bikes are limited to 180km/h (112mph) this law wasn't in effect when the NC24 was made, but at the time the maximum permissible speed of a motorcycle legally on a public road such as express way was 80km/h, this light was to let you know that you are exceeding that speed.
In standard form with the light the NC24 isnt restricted, it will run off the clock to about 125mph.
The NC30 and NC35, along with the ZXR400 (89 onwards bikes) were limited to 180km/h.
Hope that helps

I can lend you a pair of needle pliers to pull the bulb out with
Those rubber holders can be a pig to get out

Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.
