Gas gauge

Post by oki_boy »

Just ran out of gas (petrol) on the road and waiting for a friend to bail me out. Figured it's a good time to ask: is there some kind of aftermarket gauge I can get to tell me my gas level? Evidently, "eyeing it" is not working out.

Bad crack. Make sure you have the fuel tap on 'on' and when your bike starts to run out switch it to 'reserve' and head to a petrol station. Fitting an after market fuel gauge would require you to change your dashboard completely if you want it to look decent.

Theres a reserve on an NC35? Dammit. That could have saved me an hour and a half of baking in the sun.

Evidently HK people dont stop to ask if you need help.... X(

Yup its there on the left hand side where you thigh would rest when on the bike. Make the wee tap turn with the longer point pointing up to get to reserve. should make sense when you look at the tap.
Remember to make the shorter point face up once you have refilled

yeh getting an accurate fuel indicator to work would involve a lot more than just a new gauge cluster. frankly despite how nice it would be, i don't think its worth the trouble. use your trip meter and reserve as others have mentioned and make that your cognitive fuel gauge

And once you've filled up always switch back to "On".

Hands up who's forgotten before?

I;ve done petrol roulette on these bikes too many times. There is at least 50km on the reserve tank if you are riding steady and economically.
