Any thoughs on what this could be? NC21/24 Crossover?

Post by Neosophist »

Just picked up the front nosecone fairing from a bloke who's breaking an NC24 (in rothmans colours)

Only thing is the frame is stamped NC21xxxxxx

The engine also has the hydraulic clutch system.

Front forks / breaks are NC24 spec, 37mm stantions, air dampened. same deal with the single sided Elf/proarm rear swingarm. Has a full NC24 spec rothmans fairing, (ie 2 separate seats)

He dosn't have the logbook as it never got around to being uk registered, the odo reads 12500km.

Maybe it's a very early NC24 using the NC21 clutch / frame? Or some werid accident repaired, hybrid botch job.

Either way i thought it interesting as it's something you dont' see everyday!

It wouldn't be too easy putting a single swingarm on an nc21 frame!

Maybe its the prototype version or some sort of testing rig for the first nc24's!! lol could be worth a fortune if honda were looking to add it to their museum.

carbs have rounded sliders and were clean, he said the engine had only done about 14000km. From what I gather it was imported and stripped for a service before it was gonna be put on the road and it just never got around to being put back together, suffice to say the petrol in the tank went stale and nasty after a few years and the guy who had it imported sold it to the guy who's breaking it, not knowing much about them he decided to break it instead of trying to re-assemble it.

I've asked him if its ok to post his email address for the people who are interested in what he's got left. As soon as he gets back to me i'll let you know.

Could it not be an NC24 which somebody has fitted with the hydraulic clutch?

Or could it be the same as mine !
I have a 21 with a 24 arm fitted. It's the same frame basically so the job should be easy.
I haven't used 24 forks but I do have 24 front wheel and discs on it.
The 24 was pretty much a make over job before the 30.
But the carbs don't fit in the same rubbers ! ( I tried for 3 days then gave up and refitted my 21 carbs !
