NC 24 Exhaust can

Post by BigDonk »

Any advice on Exhaust cans for the NC24?

the exhaust (one piece) end can is going a bit flakey on the wheel side of the can, ie has penetrated the outer metal cover, does appear to be holed, when the bike was running but I do not think its far off.

You can get a link pipe for the NC24 pretty easy. I may even have one knocking around.

This will give you a normal exit pipe to which you can bolt on most slip-on cans.

From then on it is whatever takes your fancy / how much money you want to spend.

There are a few Japanese cans that have integrated link-pipes like the standard exhaust, DIC / Over come to mind but these wont be as easy to find.

Or you can take the outer covering off with a grinder and polish up the inner part. its all stainless steel under the outer cover and polishes up real well.
heres a pic of mine when it was polished a couple of years ago, and it has'nt changed or gone dull yet. just a wee rub with solvol now and then to shine it up like new.

there is a small drain hole on the underside but you will hardly notice it. I do wonder why honda put the tin cover on in the first place as i think it looks better without it.

It's designed to be a heatshield so your pillion doesn't melt their boots ;)
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

Bloody hell, that can looks wicked, how did you get such a neat finish ? I mean I know its polished but you must be pretty accurate wih the grinder, nice one.
And this one fades in quietly......

It was easy as there are only a few stitch welds to grind, then dress them up with a medium sanding disc, moving on to a fine disc, then onto a polishing buff with the medium soap/bar, then onto fine polish.
3 hours work max.. you can go to mirror finish if you want but it would take too long and its not really worth all that effort.

that looks well mate, like that colour scheme.
Get the wheels painted up and show it in performance bikes mag. they are looking one in an original paint scheme for an article, but you need to lend them your bike for a wee while!
