Valve clearance with mileage

how goes the valve clearance with mileage, does it goes wider or tight?
How to set valves clearance at service, on the upper or lower servicelimit? Sorry i am an 2T men

Hi,
The valve clearences will get smaller as the miles go up.
I would set them as per haynes manual, but if you have to adjust slightly i would go for a smaller shim, i.e. if the shim required is 2.029 i would go for a 2.0275 rather than a 2.03

Oh thanks, i dont have a haynes maual only the OE Honda (inlet 0.12-0,18; exhaust 0.21-0.27). What does Haynes prefer for valve clearance?
2 Questions about shims:
- Where do you get shims with 1/1000 or 1/10000mm steps? by Honda only in 1/100 mm setps (like 2.30-2.32-2.35-2.38-2.40,etc)
- OE Honda Shims diameter is 7.50mm. i have a set of aftermarket Shims (hot cams)- the diameter is 7.48mm. is this a problem? Someone experience with it?

IIRC only one or two would need adjusting every 16,000 miles.

I think the 7.48 and 7.5 wll be fine -

They get tighter as the valve seat gets worn so I run them slightly more towards to loose side.

So, closer to 0.18 than 0.12.

Sadly, that wasn't the case with my RVF. All were either too tight or on the cusp of being too tight. I had to swap/replace all of them. I'm so used to riding/working on my RS125 that it was making me question why I didn't get an NSR250 instead. Then I remembered how expensive Honda NSR250 bottom-end rebuilds were and I angrily went about sorting the RVF.
