Hi all.
Spent a bit of time today giving the a nc a good service ready to go out on.
All done one last thing to check the tyre pressures,
Toped them up with air guess what? The valve on the front wheel came completly out what a downer just set me back onother week before I get chance to take the wheel of & take it to the shop for a nee valve.
Anybody come across this?
Cheers.

Rob.

ive seen it a few times, its the rubber when it deteriorates, goes rock hard and you can literally touch it and it will snap off

Mine has been rock hard quite a few times but has never come off in my hand, I think you are pulling too hard.

Reputable tyre changers will always change the valves with every tyre change.
They are not even that expensive. I always see a note of it on the invoice from FWR

It's apparently more common than it seems and considering the potential catastrophic consequences, if it comes off when you're riding, I'd say a new valve with every tyre change is an absolute must!

My Bandit was left unused for about a year and I recently noticed that one of the valves was leaking air through the rubber bit too; needless to say that was replaced sharpish!

I have these fitted (again changed whenever the tyres are)

Being angled makes it a lot easier to fit air into the wheel which puts less stressses onto the rubber as when they are uprighted it takes a lot of bending them to connect up the airhose
