Realistic expectancy for NC30 parts in future?
Over the course of about 3 years now I have noticed a definite decrease in the amount of NC30 parts and normal condition bikes. It seems bikes and parts are drying up fast.
Apparently there were about 8000 NC30 bikes made every year, so probably will be less than 50% of that total number remaining now intact. Rough estimate maybe 10,000 bikes still remaining?
How much longer do you think it is realistic we will have a parts supply for these bikes for?
Personally I go through parts very quickly... and a couple of years ago it was easy for me to find a crank and pistons, engine covers or set of forks but now it is becoming very tricky.
I really don't want to stop riding the bike but if parts are becoming too scarce then it becomes a problem with raping the beast every week and the circuit.

Re: Realistic expectancy for NC30 parts in future?
i have seen a marked decrease of quality bikes for sale over the last 5 years. back in 04 it was easy to find a good original NC30 for a grand, now the same bike is over 1500 +
as for parts, ebay breakers can keep putting parts up there for stupid money, but are they selling ? i suspect not

They will to suckers overseas like us.
You UK folk get this stuff for pennies.
Still, I am getting concerned about the parts supply for the future.

Yeah the parts certainly seem to be drying up in Oz too.
It was fairly easy to get most used parts 7-8 years ago, now I need to source some parts from the UK.
Although I like the pure original look of nc30's, it can be a sensible option to fit newer parts (forks, brakes, shock etc) to these bikes because replacement parts for these will be available for much longer into the future and it will be easy to keep the bike on the road.
Race bike is a different story as most of these newer parts don't meet regulations.

If you expect nothing then you really cant go wrong here.
The bikes getting on for 20+ years old.. Fortuantly it had a european release as well as the JDM relase so there will be quite a few parts kicking around (at what cost I dont know)
Most things on the 30 (and 24) can be replaced to original quality with non honda stuff if you shop around and are creative.
This is all part of the fun / problem of older bikes and keeping them going.. soon you:ll be investing in a tin of liquid rubber to cast your own bushes!
I can still get bits for my old 60s moped for a premium but bolts / spindles etc i make myself on a lathe.. if I was determined to get genuine OE stuff id need a bigger wallet.
Panels / lights / plastic stuff is usually the hardest to get hold of after a while.
All things mechanical, espeically being a member on here, you:ll never be far away from somebody who can help out :)

Those things are indeed easy to replace and work around. I am talking real essential parts though like cranks, good brake discs, gaskets and pistons. When these run out, no matter what... we will not be able to run these bikes.

I wonder if Hamamatsu factory has some nice shiny nc30 bits left over in the back yard from 1991? Anyone up that way care to pop in for me lol?
A crank or 2 would do nicely.

Aftermarket brake discs, gaskets and pistons are already available for example EBC do good aftermarket brake calipers and dynopro racing do aftermarket big bore piston kits so they can be found. Cranks may be another question but there is always bike being broken from which parts can be found.trademe900 wrote:Those things are indeed easy to replace and work around. It may get harder to find parts but I think we will be able to purchase parts for these bikes for a long time yet, I can only see their popularity rising over the coming years as has been the case with others such as the nsr250, rgv250 etc

I tend to horde these parts.
